brittana/the breakup/I’m seriously pathetic

I honestly cannot stop thinking about this episode.

So I’m gonna go full-on naive here, which usually isn’t my style, but I just don’t have the heart to be cynical about these two right now. They are, like, haunting my dreams, and not in a sexy way.

Basically, I don’t think Santana wanted to break up with Brittany. I don’t think she planned on it, and I don’t think library girl has anything to do with anything. I think the catalyst was Brittany yelling at her at the Left Behind meeting. Up until that point, Santana knew things weren’t perfect, but it probably wasn’t as bad for her because she’s out there having adventures and living away from home for the first time, whereas Brittany is just treading water but this time without her best friend/true love/hottest chick on the planet. So when Brittany finally yelled at her, she was like “Damn.” Because there is no way for things to get better anytime soon. So she made a choice, and maybe/probably it wasn’t the right one. And she used library girl as an excuse, because her only real reason was “I can’t stand to be the person making you this sad all the time; this is better for you”. And that is selfish in a weirdly selfless way, and is definitely condescending, but is, I think, completely honest anyway.

Because think about how much we hate to see Brittany sad, can you imagine how awful it is for Santana to her that way?

Anyway. I am thinking Santana probably super regrets it, and the ball is in Brittany’s court for them to get back together, which could go either way. But I really prefer to be naive and hopeful here because, seriously, just damn.

These singing teenagers have me wrapped around their fictional fingers.
